Chapter 3
- 2 When they heard the sound of the LORD God moving about in the garden at the breezy time of the day, the man and his wife hid themselves from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

- The LORD God then called to the man and asked him, "Where are you?"

- He answered, "I heard you in the garden; but I was afraid, because I was naked, so I hid myself."

- Then he asked, "Who told you that you were naked? You have eaten, then, from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat!"

- The man replied, "The woman whom you put here with me--she gave me fruit from the tree, so I ate it."

- The LORD God then asked the woman, "Why did you do such a thing?" The woman answered, "The serpent tricked me into it, so I ate it."
- Reflection: Passing the blame. This was the very first confession of mankind. All Adam and Eve needed to do was to take ownership of their sins. This is a scene in which mankind looks like a two year old and God like the parent. I picture God rolling His eyes here. "Really guys, I know what happened, why can't you just admit it." Once pride entered the picture it humans then began to struggle with being honest and humble. I pray that my confessions don't look so horrible to the Lord. I hope that I don't pass the buck quit so much. I pray that I can take this example and realize how much God knows and how sugar coating it looks to God.
Me again! Here is the crazy thing. All day long I noticed how hard it is for the little ones to look mom in the eye admit when they do something wrong. At the very beginning to the day the Two year old Jumba broke a collectible. I asked him from a distance if he broke my thing. He said, "yes." Until I brought him up onto my lap. I told him that I loved him no matte what but he needed to look me in the eye and say sorry. At this point he would look away and say somebody else did it. I sat and laughed. How God must look at humans. This child was so silly. I knew what happened. But he just couldn't say sorry to my face. How silly it looked and yet how human it really is to blame anything and anyone else.
